Business Unit Overview:
Our Finance and Strategy team is a dynamic group of professionals who drive financial planning, analysis, and reporting for BlackRock. Within this team, the Financial & Prudential Reporting group plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely financial results for our EMEA region. These results are presented in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, and we also prepare management accounts, board reports, statutory accounts, and regulatory returns.

Position Description:
The Financial & Prudential Reporting Accountant will be responsible for delivering financial and regulatory reporting for the BlackRock Group Limited prudential consolidation, associated risk reporting, and ad-hoc project work. To achieve this, the successful candidate will develop strong relationships with other parts of Finance, cross-functional teams, and local country management.

This role will report to a Financial & Prudential Reporting VP based in Edinburgh, within the Financial & Prudential Reporting team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Be the primary point of contact for prudential consolidation
  2. Ensure financial control is maintained over reports
  3. Deliver statutory, regulatory, and statistical reporting
  4. Present regular management reports to the joint board as required
  5. Contribute to ad-hoc projects as needed
  6. Work with prudential specialists to identify, understand, and prepare for upcoming regulatory changes

Experience:
  1. Qualified accountant with a strong academic record; preferably in financial services
  2. Background in financial reporting, with a strong knowledge of global accounting standards, including US GAAP and IFRS
  3. Regulatory reporting experience is desirable
  4. Stakeholder management skills
Competencies:
  1. Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in verbal and written form, with all levels of the business
  2. Organized and methodical, with attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines
  3. Ability to overcome obstacles, maintain effective behavior in difficult situations, and achieve goals
  4. Commercially minded, with an interest in the asset management sector
