Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering to join our faculty at Widener University's School of Engineering.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering subjects. They will also conduct impactful scholarly research in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on manufacturing and AI. The professor will engage in departmental, school, and university service activities, contribute to the development of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and participate in committee work, student advising, and other service responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • Prior teaching experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research, with a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences, is essential.
  • Proven ability or potential to secure external funding to support research initiatives is also required.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
