About the Role

University Hospitals Birmingham is seeking a highly skilled Junior Physicist to join its Radiation Protection Department. As a key member of the team, you will provide scientific and administrative support to the work of RRPPS, particularly in x-ray quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and collate data required for Radiation Protection Committees
  • Process data and produce customer letters for Environmental Monitoring Audits
  • Assist in the commissioning and routine testing of x-ray equipment under direction
  • Become familiar with test equipment and computer programmes related to the quality assurance of diagnostic radiology
  • Develop specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology Physics and Radiation Protection
Requirements
  • Honours degree in Physics or relevant subject
  • Good knowledge of general physics
  • Knowledge and fluency with IT packages such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Access etc. for the analysis of complex scientific data
  • Experience or education in Medical Physics and Radiation Protection
