On a daily basis they will be liaising with other technologists, clinical scientists, the management team, junior and senior medical staff, nursing and clerical staff.

The post-holder will work in a highly specialised area that requires consideration of radiation and cross infection risks and requires the empathy and skill to help patients and their families through difficult and complex procedures.

Annex 21 also available to gain experience to be appointed at Band 7 at a later date.

The lead will have responsibility for all aspects of governance including the Quality Management System (QMS), dealing with Datix incidents (including Risk Register) and ensuring CRIS data is inputted correctly and completely. Responsible for initiating and organising audits and working with physicists and radiologists to improve and develop the service.

They will be actively involved in performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures on patients of all ages and suffering a range of illness, including cancer, the dispensing and administration of sterile radioactive materials, acquisition of imaging data, analysing and calculating results and the disposal and management of radioactive waste. Mainly based at the QEHB site, the post holder will have duties at HH, GH, SOH and BCH, providing teaching, advice, assessment, supervision and mentorship to staff and trainees across all sites under direction of the Management Team. As a senior member of staff, they are required to work unsupervised at all times. They are part of the team responsible for the organisation of the daily and future clinical workload of the department, adapting the work plan in response to changes in levels of demand and capacity.
