Substance Misuse Lead Nurse Opportunity

Spectrum Community Health CIC is seeking a highly skilled Substance Misuse Lead Nurse to join our dedicated nursing team in Health and Justice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing robust clinical substance misuse support and operational guidance to all staff on matters relating to physical health and wellbeing within the prison setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with excellent leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to take forward our service.

The welcome payment is payable to new candidates joining Spectrum Community Health CIC.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the Substance Misuse Service, including coordination of patient care and provision of strong clinical leadership.
  • Be involved with shift planning, taking appropriate action to adjust staffing levels and to prioritise the workload in accordance with patient need, service demand and the availability of staff.
  • Assess, diagnose, provide advice and administer care to patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of health issues and treatment options.
About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a nurse with advanced nursing knowledge, an understanding of NICE guidelines and a desire to be involved with key decision-making.

The successful candidate will be an effective and visible leader, providing robust clinical substance misuse support and operational guidance to all staff.

The post holder will be involved with assessing, diagnosing, providing advice and administering care to patients.

Person Specification
  • Post registration experience in substance misuse.
  • Multi-Disciplinary working.
  • Understanding of clinical governance.
  • Recovery based models.
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Change management experience.
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Offender health knowledge.
