Scientist II/III Process Development (Downstream)

We are seeking a talented Scientist to join our Downstream Process Development team.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing and reporting laboratory-based experiments or investigations in accordance with scientific or regulatory requirements.

Our team is responsible for the development of world-class viral vector manufacturing processes for Oxford Biomedica's proprietary products and partnered programmes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Participating in activities ranging from vector production at laboratory and pilot scales, process development and optimisation, technology transfer, and process characterization activities associated with the manufacture of new gene therapy vectors.
  2. Preparing written reports to a high standard and presenting data within the PD group.
  3. Liaising with other members of the PD group and assisting with other development activities where appropriate.
  4. Writing of departmental risk assessments, SOPs, and other documentation where appropriate.

We are looking for:

  1. Minimum BSc Degree programme level, a postgraduate degree and/or relevant experience.
  2. Pharmaceutical industry experience in biological research and development or equivalent experience gained elsewhere desirable, but not necessary.
  3. Experience with the operation of laboratory, pilot or production scale downstream purification processes.
  4. Competency in data capture, reporting and management systems.
  5. The capability of explaining clearly why an experiment is being conducted and how the experiments help the group meet their objectives.
  6. Awareness of regulatory requirements e.g. GMP, GLP, GCP and/or Validation and Quality Management systems.
  7. Familiarity with data analysis software packages such as Microsoft Excel, JMP, Design Expert, GraphPad Prism.
  8. Fluency in written and spoken English.
