Principal Ecologist Opportunity
Location: Bristol
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ecologist to join our team in Bristol. As a remote position, you will have the flexibility to work from home or in our office. You will lead and manage ecological projects, providing expert guidance on environmental assessments and biodiversity strategies.
This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects across diverse sectors and have the option to grow and lead a team. Our company offers a company car, flexible working hours, paid memberships, and enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay and leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies for various projects.
- Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring.
- Prepare and review ecological reports.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance on ecological issues.
- Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, planning policies, and environmental standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience within an ecological consultancy or a related field.
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline. A master's degree or PhD is advantageous.
- Experience with ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning regulations, and best practices in ecological management.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach, committed to delivering high-quality work with a positive impact.
