About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director of Scientific Data and Insight to join our team at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of innovative approaches to support regulatory decisions, leveraging expertise in data resources for medicines and devices.
  • Engage with national and international bodies to maximise opportunities for real-world data in regulatory decisions.
  • Support the development of a regulatory framework for software-enabled medical devices.
  • Coordinate the delivery plan of the MHRA data strategy, providing effective leadership and management to the Scientific Data and Insight team.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to drive increased capability and capacity in data resources.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhances and improves the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.

The Safety and Surveillance Group brings together expertise on the safety of all medical products with enforcement capabilities, protecting the public by identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with medical products.

The Scientific Data and Insight function develops expertise to deliver evidence for new approaches, exploring and applying new analytical methodologies, including AI and machine learning methods.

Requirements
  • A strong and inclusive corporate and team leader with experience in management.
  • A sound understanding and ability to oversee the development of databases and data visualisation solutions.
