Cardiology SDEC Job Opportunity
About the Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our cardiology specialist nursing team in our newly developed cardiology SDEC. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high standards of nursing care to cardiac patients with a range of cardiology conditions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programmes of care, including discharge planning, for each patient.
  • Safeguard vulnerable adults and participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and their carers on adopting a healthier lifestyle and complete patient documentation correctly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Develop and sustain own knowledge, clinical skills, and professional awareness in accordance with PREP requirements.
  • Assist in the training and development of student nurses and healthcare assistants.
  • Contribute to research and development programmes within the ward/department.
  • Set and monitor measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.
  • Participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean ward environment and ensure all appropriate general risk assessments are carried out within 24 hours of admission.
  • Show awareness of budgeting and exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.
  • Assist in the assessment of staffing requirements and report problems to the appropriate manager.
  • Undertake clinical/shift management within the department in the absence of a more senior member of staff.

Essential
  • Able to use own initiative and calm, prioritise, and make decisions appropriately.
  • Effective communicator and able to work in a team.
  • Deliver high care standards in line with Clinical Governance and be flexible, punctual, and reliable.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Keyboard and computer skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register.
  • Post-registration experience, preferably within Cardiology or Critical Care or A&E.
  • Applications from newly qualified nurses will be considered.
Desirable
  • Diploma/Degree.
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications.
  • Experience and competence in ECG interpretation.
