Companion Volunteer Role
Location: Horley, Surrey
Time Commitment: Flexible
The Companion Volunteer will play a vital role in providing companionship to someone we support in Horley. This involves spending time with them in their home, engaging in activities they enjoy, and fostering meaningful relationships. These activities might include chatting over a cup of tea, reading books, or playing board games. To be successful in this role, you will need to be kind, empathetic, and friendly, with a good sense of humour and the ability to chat confidently. You will also need to be punctual and reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in line with our data protection procedures. Please note that you must be over the age of 18 to apply for this role. To apply, please complete the application form below. A member of our friendly Volunteering Team will then contact you to discuss the next steps and answer any questions you may have. We require all volunteers to undergo a DBS check and provide two satisfactory references before starting their role. As you will be working directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also need to complete safeguarding training and any other role-specific training. About UsWe are SeeAbility, a charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss. Our mission is to empower these individuals to reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives. We encourage people with disabilities to challenge their expectations and push beyond what they thought was possible. With over 220 years of experience, we have pioneered specialist support and continue to innovate and adapt to meet the changing needs of our clients.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others. As a Companion Volunteer, you will have the chance to develop new skills, meet new people, and experience the rewards of volunteering. We provide training and support to ensure you have the confidence and expertise to excel in this role. If you are passionate about making a positive impact and supporting others, we encourage you to apply.
