The Company is the sole corporate trustee of six registered charities and sole member of the Mercers' Company Housing Association. Its philanthropic efforts aim to distribute £10 million annually through various funding programs to improve people's lives, strengthen organizations, and contribute to societal change.

As a key member of the Finance team, the Head of Charity Finance and Operations will lead a small team in delivering all aspects of the Charities' financial management. This includes providing strategic financial leadership, advising on the management of substantial assets, and maintaining long-term philanthropic aspirations for the charities.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant knowledge and experience in the charity sector, particularly in managing endowed charities. They will have a strong track record of financial leadership, innovative thinking, and people management. Additionally, they will have excellent communications and stakeholder management skills, as well as high integrity and the ability to inspire trust.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of charitable foundations, social investment, and complex governance structures. They will be able to produce timely, clear, and concise financial reports, and work closely with senior stakeholders within the Company.

The Head of Charity Finance and Operations will deputise for the Finance Director and play a critical role in maintaining the Company's reputation as a responsible and effective philanthropic organization.
