About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner. As a key member of our Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS), you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based psychological therapies to children and young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions to children and young people, using evidence-based approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of group work interventions, including training and supervision.
  • Engage with children and young people from diverse backgrounds, using interpreters when necessary, and promote equal opportunities.
  • Meet targets set within the service, while maintaining high standards of clinical practice and patient care.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Willingness to undertake and successfully complete training in the Postgraduate Diploma in Children's Wellbeing Practitioner at Northumbria University, within 12 months.
    • Be educated to degree level, as per the University requirements.
  • Desirable:
    • Psychology or related degree.
    • Professional qualification in teaching, nursing, social work, AHP, counselling, or psychological therapy.
Requirements
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to manage own time and diary, and to manage demands of both training course and work in service.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for the full duration of the working day.
  • Ability to work flexibly, sometimes working additional or unsocial hours as necessary to meet the needs of the service.
