Consultant Haematologist with Expertise in Lymphoma

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Haematologist with a strong interest in Lymphoma to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Haematology department, you will play a vital role in providing expert care to patients with blood disorders and haematological malignancies.
Main Duties- Provide outpatient clinics at both Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, including Lymphoma clinics and general haematology clinics.
- Participate in the weekly Haematology Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to discuss patient cases and develop treatment plans.
- Provide cover and advice to the Haematology Day Case Unit, including medical review as needed.
- Provide ward cover for inpatient Lymphoma and support the suspected Lymphoma pathway.
- Negotiate laboratory cover as required.
The on-call commitment is a 1:6 rota, which includes attending the ward for seven consecutive days, with two scheduled ward rounds during the week and daily ward rounds on Saturday and Sunday. This also includes 24-hour telephone advice as needed.
Job Plan and SPA-CPDIn a 10 PA job plan, 1 SPA-CPD will be provided (for less than full-time, this may be pro rata to a minimum of 0.5 SPA-CPD). SPA-CPD includes job planning, appraisal, mandatory training, consultant meetings, clinical governance, and teaching to the junior medical team.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a candidate with the following essential criteria:
- Basic medical degree (MB BS, FRCR, or equivalent specialist qualification)
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
Desirable criteria include:
- Higher degree
- Breadth of experience in and outside the specialty
- Recognised teaching qualification
