Senior Service Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Designer to join our team in the Social Security Programme Division. As a Senior Service Designer, you will play a key role in the end-to-end journey of a service, helping users complete their goals and ensuring government delivers policy intent.
Your work may involve creating or changing transactions, products, and content across digital and offline channels. You will work with service managers and programme directors to develop design concepts, championing the involvement of citizens, service users, and stakeholders throughout the design process.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design and implementation of services, strategies, and policies to meet business requirements and user needs.
- Advocate for inclusive, collaborative, user-centred service design practices and embed them into service design and delivery.
- Advise on service design tools and methods to use.
- Work with user researchers to understand and meet the needs of users across various channels.
- Champion design for users requiring assisted digital and/or accessibility technologies.
- Facilitate co-design with design teams, citizens, service users, and other stakeholders.
- Prototype and validate proposed design solutions using various prototyping tools.
- Identify and understand constraints, communicate them, and work within them.
- Make and guide on design decisions and communicate how decisions were reached.
- Participate in and/or support programme and project assurance activities.
- Contribute to DDaT community by participating in events and reviewing processes, tools, and guidance.
- Line manage the Social Security Directorate service design team.
- Other duties as required by SG to support wider corporate activities.
- Experience in digital service design, designing and delivering a wide range of service design activities.
- Ability to choose and apply appropriate user-centred design methods for different design life cycle phases and situations.
- Ability to communicate design approaches and insights effectively.
- Knowledge of other user-centred design practices and experience collaborating with them for service delivery.
