Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team of nursing and medical staff at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for the clinical assessment of wounds and the treatment of patients on the Regional Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital.

Main Responsibilities
  • To develop the skills to care for acutely unwell patients and work autonomously within the clinic, which is predominantly nurse-led.
  • Liaise with senior medical staff to provide a high-quality service to patients and their families.
  • Offer advice and support to staff as required and work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to maximise best use of resources.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the principles of Improving Working Lives and promote a safe working environment in accordance with Risk Management principles.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development with a relevant diploma.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification/training, or equivalent.
  • Willingness to study to degree level.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role and current professional and clinical issues.
  • Awareness, understanding, and application of research and development current evidence-based practices.
  • Previous NHS experience and significant post-registration experience within an acute hospital setting.
Person Specification
  • Evidence of quality improvement in patient care.
  • Effective organisational skills and ability to set and establish priorities.
  • Ability to negotiate and demonstrate a sound problem-solving approach to work issues.
