Kenton Black Limited is a leading recruitment partner specializing in finance talent across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Office Manager to join our team in a hybrid role.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and organized individual to oversee and manage our payroll and office operations. The successful candidate will have full end-to-end payroll processing experience, a solid knowledge of pension auto-enrolment, RTI/HMRC procedures, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate office activities and operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies.
  • Oversee and manage payroll workflow daily, including processing and managing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls via Brightpay.
  • Provide client payroll reports and updates, and deal with HMRC queries and RTI.
  • Process SMP, SSP, BACS processing, and competent and knowledgeable with all aspects of pensions auto-enrolment procedures.
  • Process starters/leavers, P45/P46s, and set up new clients.
  • Manage queries from outsourcing partners and clients, and supervise staff, manage staff absences, and organize annual appraisals.
  • Implement and maintain workflow documentations and office procedures, and create and update records with personnel, financial sensitivity.
  • Assist in HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Review client fee levels and staff timesheets regularly, and ensure the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis.
  • Negotiate and renew business insurances, and perform additional administration duties as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Office/Payroll or Practice Manager leading a small team.
  • Prior UK payroll experience.
  • Experience with UK HR processes and legislation.
  • Previous experience in project management desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ideally Brightpay software.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage expectations.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
