Transition Mentor

Quarriers South Ayrshire Youth Housing Support Service is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team as a Transition Mentor. This role is designed to support young people aged 16–25 years who may be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The successful candidate will provide on-going support and be a positive role model for young people, helping them to access opportunities and engage positively within their communities through social diversionary activities and inclusion. The Transition Mentor will also promote positive social networks and encourage engagement with friends and family as appropriate.

Working directly with young people, the Transition Mentor will gain their trust and support them to engage in learning experiences that promote their educational attainment, academic qualifications, self-confidence, independent living skills, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-going support and guidance to young people aged 16–25 years who may be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Support young people to access opportunities and engage positively within their communities.
  • Promote positive social networks and encourage engagement with friends and family as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to supporting young people.

Requirements:

  • A full driving license and access to a car.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting young people who have faced adversity.
