About the Role
The University of Chichester's Institute of Education and Social Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Sociology Lecturer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our Sociology provision, which takes a student-centred and supportive approach to teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate modules within the field of Sociology, focusing on topics such as gender, ethnicity, disability, poverty, and social justice.
- Develop and deliver high-quality, interactive teaching activities that cater to the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Contribute to the development of content to shape the delivery of the Sociology programmes, ensuring that they are informed by the latest developments and theories in the field.
- Lead discussions and moderate classroom debates on contentious topics, fostering a culture of critical thinking and respectful dialogue.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
- A good relevant undergraduate degree in Sociology or a related field, with a strong understanding of the latest developments and theories in the field.
- Experience of delivering high-quality teaching or training activities, with a proven track record of engaging students and promoting academic excellence.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, students, and external partners.
- Experience of using Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and technologies to enhance the learning experience.
