Sociology Lecturer

About the Role

The Institute of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Chichester is seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Associate Lecturer in Sociology. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our Sociology provision, which takes a student-centred, supportive approach to teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate modules within the field of Sociology, focusing on topics such as gender, ethnicity, disability, poverty, and social justice.
• Develop content to shape the delivery of the Sociology programmes, incorporating the latest developments and theories around identity, including sex identity and gender.
• Lead discussion and moderate classroom debate on contentious topics, fostering group cohesion and working with small dynamic classes.
• Deliver high-quality, interactive teaching or training activities, utilising Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and technologies to enhance the learning experience.

Requirements

• A good relevant undergraduate experience and ideally be working towards a postgraduate degree in Sociology.
• A sound understanding of the latest developments and theories around identity, including sex identity and gender.
• Experience of delivering high-quality, interactive teaching or training activities, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
