Job Overview

The Division of Surgery at BHRUT NHS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopaedic Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Trauma and Orthopaedic Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients requiring application of casts and splints.

Main Duties

As a Trained Orthopaedic Technician, you will work closely with our team of technicians to deliver a high-quality service to patients in the Fracture/Orthopaedic/Paediatric Clinics, Wards/Theatres, and other areas of the Trust. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct and indirect care to patients requiring application of casts and splints
  • Working in all areas of Fracture, Orthopaedic, Telephone Fracture Clinic, and Specialist Paediatric Clinic (Ponseti and serial casting)
  • Carrying out duties deemed necessary by the Lead/Senior technician to ensure adequate provision of service
  • Developing and maintaining a broad theoretical and practical knowledge base to deliver exceptional care to patients

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A British Orthopaedic Association Casting Certificate
  • Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT GCSE A-C or equivalent
  • Experience in plastering techniques and possession of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate
  • Advanced plaster applications, such as FRC, total contact, Ponseti, and serial casting
