About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at 3D Personnel. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of our civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Review and Analysis: Review project drawings, contracts, and specifications to understand scope, materials, and requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to gather essential project information.
  • Cost Estimation: Calculate and prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Cost Management: Utilize cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks for accuracy.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Consider factors like permits, site conditions, and safety regulations in cost calculations.
  • Project Budgeting: Collaborate with the project team to establish and monitor project budgets.
  • Value Engineering: Identify potential cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities.
  • Monthly CVR Meetings: Attend monthly CVR meetings for feedback on current projects.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including cost breakdowns, schedules, and proposal documents for clients and subcontractors.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry standards and regulations affecting civil engineering projects.
Requirements
  • Strong Understanding: Strong understanding of heavy civils, tunnelling, and trenchless works.
  • Experience: Experience in producing winning bids for projects ranging from £500k to £20m.
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Multitasking: Ability to multitask and support multiple teams in various remote locations.
  • Independence: Capable of working independently on bids or as part of a larger team.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Good contractual understanding, mainly NEC 3 and NEC 4.
  • Industry Experience: Several years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on cost estimation.
  • Construction Knowledge: Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using construction estimating software and spreadsheet applications, including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Professional Certification: Professional certification (such as Certified Professional Estimator) is beneficial.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Auto-Cad Experience.
  • Degree Education: Degree Educated, Working Towards Chartership.
  • Site Experience: Site Experience in Tunnelling or Civil Engineering.
