Job Summary

The NHS England board is seeking a highly skilled Programme Manager to lead the cardiac specialised commissioning portfolio of work in collaboration with the Specialised Commissioning team and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). This role will be part of a comprehensive team of clinical leads and programme staff working to deliver the ambitions of the Long Term Plan and Major Conditions Strategy for cardiac services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide network leadership and programme management for the cardiac specialised commissioning portfolio of work.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting structures are in place to inform commissioners and the network of waiting time performance and other key performance indicators.
  • Understand the vision and strategic aims of the Long-Term Plan and ensure they are translated into network plans and defined outcomes.
  • Be responsible for leading on programme priorities to ensure plans are developed within relevant timescales for delivery of the change needed to improve health outcomes, reduce health inequalities, and maximise value for money.
  • Apply a population health approach to improve health outcomes and actively reduce health inequalities.
  • Provide appropriate governance and reporting programme progress against agreed objectives and action plan.
  • Establish and maintain links with London system to ensure oversight of East of England population pathways into London.
  • Act as the East of England representative for the Congenital Heart Disease Network.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NHS England team and contribute to the development of cardiac services in the East of England. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of service change management, building effective cross-functional working relationships, and complex pathway management and redesign.

  • Essential qualifications: Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Essential experience: Experience of service change management, building effective cross-functional working relationships, and complex pathway management and redesign.
  • Essential skills: Demonstrable skills in presenting complex concepts and information across a wide range of audiences.
  • Essential knowledge and experience: Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience.
