Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in various clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is 4/7, including weekends, night shifts, and public holidays. It is a full-time post, but part-time hours will be considered. The salary would be pro rata for part-time hours.

Ailsa ward is an established 20-bedded, mixed-sex, adult mental health rehabilitation and continuing care ward within Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow. The ward provides care and treatment to adults with a range of treatment-resistant mental health conditions that have impacted on people's social and personal functioning.

Our aim as a nursing team is to work closely and collaboratively with our patient group, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapists, Psychology, and Therapeutic Activity Nurses to provide excellent, holistic, evidence-based patient-centered care with a focus on supporting patients and their families on a journey to recovery and a productive life outside of a hospital setting.

We encourage a psychological approach to recovery, centered on an ethos of empowering patients through Cognitive Remediation Therapy to improve outcomes, functioning, and interpersonal skills. We also carry out regular psychological formulation sessions for our MDT to attend, to assist us in understanding how best to develop care plans to achieve the best for our patients.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our professional and dedicated team. The post-holder will be responsible for contributing to the care and support of people and will provide care and support as part of an agreed plan of care that involves the use of a strength-based recovery-focused approach that proactively involves the person.

The post-holder will work in partnership with patients, carers, and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards, and clinical policies. They will be required to undertake duties without direct supervision and will be supported through a robust induction, ongoing competency-based training, and continuous professional development (CPD).

The post-holder directly contributes to safe, efficient service delivery and may be required to work across the mental health in-patient service (i.e., Stobhill site) providing nursing care to meet the needs of the service.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic, caring staff who are committed to providing excellent patient care with a focus on recovery and empowerment and carer involvement. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable interest in General Adult Psychiatry and a keen interest in the specialist care of people who need to build on their skills to live a fulfilling life away from a hospital care setting.

Ailsa ward is based within Stobhill Hospital in Springburn, Glasgow. There are easy links to the M8 and excellent public transport links.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community. We promote a culture of inclusion across the organization and are proud of the diverse workforce we have.

We support applications from across the Armed Forces Community, recognizing military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment and selection process.

NHS Scotland is reducing its full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff.
