Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a SEN pupil who is new to the school.

About the Role:

The school requires a teaching assistant with prior experience and knowledge in supporting pupils with additional needs. This pupil is a year 3 student who has Autism, visual impairments and language and speech needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support with your assigned pupil, ensuring their individual educational and developmental needs are met.
  • Modify and adapt learning materials and resources to suit the pupil's specific learning style and needs.
  • Implement and follow behaviour management strategies tailored to the pupil's needs, promoting a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Utilise appropriate communication methods, including non-verbal communication tools, to interact effectively with your assigned pupil.
  • Monitor and record the pupil's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, SENCO & outside agencies who provide support for the pupil and family.
  • Support the implementation of the pupil's individualised education plan or any other personalised learning plans.
  • Aid with personal care tasks, to ensure the pupil's comfort and well-being.
  • Always ensure the pupil's safety, supervising them during classroom activities, breaks and any other school events.
Requirements:
  • Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant/childcare learning and development qualification.
  • At least 6+ months' experience within the Primary School setting environment.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • DBS on the update service.
  • Classroom TA/LSA/1:1 experience.
  • SEN experience/knowledge/additional CPD.
