Neurosurgery Team Administrative Support

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Neurosurgery team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as an administrative support specialist. In this role, you will support the team with a variety of tasks, including clinic bookings, preparation for Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, planning patient admissions, and responding to patient queries via telephone and the mailbox.
This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience of the essential administrative tasks within the Neurosurgery Department. This will include, but is not limited to patient telephone communication, booking appointments, arranging admissions and preparing multidisciplinary team meetings. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment, with comprehensive on-site training.
The position is part of a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship, fixed-term for up to 18 months. As a member of the Neurosurgery team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will be responsible for managing waiting lists, admission data, and patient bookings, ensuring smooth clinic operations. You will also assist with general outpatient clinic bookings, ensuring accurate scheduling and communication with patients and staff.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, consultants, nurses, and administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. This will involve carrying out general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and maintaining patient records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and confidential.
You will also adhere to all hospital policies, including health and safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.

You will have access to mentorship from senior clinical staff, regular reviews, and training modules related to patient care, healthcare administration, and neurosurgical procedures.

Training will be provided for the following systems:
EPIC training provided by the Trust's EPIC Team and access is only granted once training is completed. Sectra training provided on-the-job. IEP – provided by on-the-job training. eRS – provided by on-the-job training. Excel – build on existing skills with on-the-job training. Training will be provided on-the-job in relation to Patients Admissions and General Clinic Bookings.
