About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Sustainability and Estates. This is a key leadership role that will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our organization and contributing to the well-being of our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainable practices across our organization, reducing our environmental impact and promoting green practices.
  • Lead initiatives that promote the health and well-being of our communities, working closely with stakeholders to achieve our goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Climate Change, Decarbonisation and Biodiversity agenda, working with experts to develop and deploy a comprehensive strategy.
  • Establish an organization-wide approach to Agile Working, engaging colleagues to develop a strategic approach and working closely with Trade Union partners.
  • Lead the development and deployment of an effective, comprehensive Facilities and Support Services function.
About Us

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organization in Wales, with a budget of £ billion and a workforce of over 21,000 staff. We provide a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute, and specialist hospital services across 3 acute hospitals, 22 community hospitals, and a network of health centers, clinics, community health team bases, and mental health units.

We are an integrated health system that strives to ensure excellent compassionate care is delivered in partnership with the public and other statutory and third sector organizations. We have a developed relationship with the universities in North Wales and with the University of Bangor, seeking medical school status and operating in a research-rich learning culture.

Requirements
  • Master's degree level or equivalent management qualification or equivalent senior level experience.
  • Experience of working and contributing at Board level.
  • Extensive expertise and understanding of business planning, budget setting, commissioning processes, performance and change management, people management, and quality improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of the challenges facing the health service in Wales and the impact of working in a rural setting.
  • Understanding of the NHS modernization agenda and using this knowledge to develop and implement strategy and service.
Experience
  • Experience of interpreting high-level policy into service strategies.
  • Experience of managing significant resources and budgets and a proven record of accomplishment in delivering financial sustainability and value for money.
  • Experience of multi-agency strategic planning and successful record of accomplishment in strategic management at Board level in a complex organization.
Aptitude and Abilities
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • High-level analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions from combinations of qualitative and quantitative information sources and present in a concise manner.
  • Strong planning skills, able to plan effectively against deadlines in order to produce timely outputs and deliverables.
  • Ability to deal with contentious data and information, able to weigh up conflicting perspectives and make sound judgments.
  • Excellent strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to perform and deliver under pressure.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively using excellent communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills to develop, read, interpret, and disseminate complex information to others.
