About the Role

The Senior Land Manager will play a key role in creating and managing Habitat Banks on a regional basis. Reporting to the Estates Director, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of new Habitat Bank sites through identifying suitable land opportunities, collaborating with landowners and agents, and overseeing the process of onboarding land for Habitat Bank creation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritise the creation of Habitat Banks based on Local Authority Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) credit demand and known purchaser demand, working closely with the sales team.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence to assess site suitability for Habitat Bank creation, coordinating with internal teams including ecology, project delivery, legal, and finance.
  • Gather and analyse data to support targeted Habitat Bank creation, including reviewing local plan policies, agri-environment scheme information, and market sector reports.
  • Participate in regional and national marketing events to promote the concept of Habitat Bank creation to farmers and landowners.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Farm Business Tenancies, planning, and relevant environmental matters related to rural land management. They should also be able to determine Title Matters from Land Registry and other publicly available legal and land management data sources.
