Job Title: Credit Control and Billing Assistant

Forbes Solicitors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Control and Billing Assistant to join our Accounts team at our Walton Summit Office. This is a full-time role working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to join a collaborative and professional team. The role will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes in financial processes, transactions, and activities that meet the required accounts receivable function for the Firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete financial processes, transactions, and activities to deliver the required accounts receivable function for the Firm.
  • Complete day-to-day billing activity, including issuing bills and credit notes in a timely manner, while meeting client requirements, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Produce statements and chase overdue invoices in line with the firm's policy and agreed client payment terms.
  • Communicate and collaborate with fee earners across the Firm to raise and collect accurate and timely invoices and provide guidance on financial information and technical difficulties in recording time/billing.
  • Develop effective working relationships to ensure smooth and collaborative running of the billing and collections process with both internal and external clients.
  • Accurately reconcile and balance payments received.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate client account queries, discrepancies, and concerns, liaising with clients and fee earners to resolve billing queries.
  • Continually review and suggest efficiencies to be implemented and new practices to be initiated within the department.
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting and comply with financial standards, policies, and client requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records, updating all relevant systems and records as required.

  • Previous experience within a credit control or sales ledger role is essential (relevant experience in a legal environment is preferred).
  • Knowledge of legal billing processes, VAT regulations, and SRA Accounting Rules is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an excellent telephone manner is essential.
  • Experience of a legal case management system, Partner for Windows is preferred.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload.
