Paediatric Intensive Care Unit Support Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team as a Support Worker. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment that supports the delivery of high-quality care to critically-ill paediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Tidiness and Cleanliness: Work with the nursing team to ensure the ward environment is clean, tidy, and organised at all times to maintain a safe and hygienic environment and prevent the spread of infections.
- Stock Management: Ensure all necessary stock is obtained and stored appropriately throughout the ward environment, including in storage areas and stocked trollies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all supplies and equipment are within expiry dates and that equipment is in good working order and any issues reported appropriately.
- Waste Management: Collect and dispose of waste bags, sharps containers, and soiled linen in accordance with hospital policies.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to understand their needs and provide support accordingly.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally and courteously with patients and families on PICU, and respond to enquiries and address concerns to uphold a positive and welcoming atmosphere on the unit.
- Essential Qualifications:
- Numeracy, literacy, and IT skills - minimum of national level 2 / GCSE A-C grade or equivalent.
- Aptitudes and Skills Required:
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Able to work under challenging conditions.
