Role Overview

At Hastings Direct, we are seeking an experienced Catastrophic Injury Claims Handler to join our team. As a key member of our Large Loss team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-value claims, developing the technical skills of your colleagues, and ensuring that all new claims are reserved within a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of high-value claims, ensuring that they are handled to the highest technical standard.
  • Develop the technical skills of the Large Loss team, providing coaching, mentoring, and training to support their growth and development.
  • Ensure that all new claims are reserved within 6 weeks, maintaining and improving stakeholder confidence in the Large Loss team.
  • Act as a technical referral point for Large Loss Handlers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Carry out technical audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of claims data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that claims are handled with a high degree of technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of settling claims in excess of £1m, including litigation and financial handling authority of £5m or more.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Passionate about coaching and developing the skills of others.
  • ACII qualified or significant progress towards this is desirable.
