Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Alfa Laval UK&I. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the disassembly and re-assembly of rotating mechanical equipment, including the balancing of critical components.
Our team at Camberley Service Centre has a rich history of separation expertise, dating back 100 years. We cover a wide range of Alfa Laval equipment used in various industries, including Marine, Energy, and Food and Water (including wastewater). This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge and expertise to include all brands.
Key Responsibilities- Stripping and preparing Decanters for inspection
- Cleaning equipment to service/repair, including jet washing and chemical cleaning
- Dismantling and reassembling gearboxes
- Rebuilding equipment following guidelines
- Using technical drawings to assist in disassembly and re-assembly
- Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Understanding of Health and Safety and correct PPE
- Building sub-assemblies for balancing
- Balancing bowls, conveyors, and gearbox shells using dynamic balancing equipment
We are looking for a candidate with an appropriate apprenticeship or qualification in engineering. You should have experience working with hand, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools from a background in a workshop environment, along with the ability to interpret drawings and technical manuals that include both Imperial & Metric dimensions.
You should also have demonstrated knowledge of a range of workshop-related disciplines, and a key understanding of PPE and H&S requirements typical of a workshop environment. Experience of using cranes, slings, and stacker trucks would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
