About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research and Development Chemist to join our team at Concrete4Change. As a key member of our R&D team, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative technologies to utilise and permanently mineralise CO2 in concrete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development of new technologies to leverage existing capabilities and expertise, including CO2 carrier technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of funded grant project proposals, including Innovate UK, European Innovation Council, UKRI, and Horizon Europe.
  • Plan, procure, and manage the chemical laboratory in line with regulations.
  • Evaluate carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and LCA of the material developed.
  • Manage the technical team, projects, and help expand the team.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry or relevant advanced research experience.
  • Understanding of carbonation mechanisms and critical assessment of CO2 uptake.
  • Extensive experience in Carbon Dioxide Utilisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of your specialist strand.
  • Demonstratable understanding of organic, in-organic, and physical chemistry.
  • Post PhD experience.
