Creative Opportunity at Climax Studios

We are looking for a Lighting Artist to join our team at Climax Studios, a leading digital experience development company with a nearly 30-year history. Our state-of-the-art studio is located in the heart of Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, offering stunning views of the Harbour.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our design and technical art teams to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
  • Understand composition and enhance game environments and locations through lighting.
  • Create lighting-related visual and post effects.
  • Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimization.
  • Enhance the project's mood and tell stories through lighting.

Requirements:

  • Experience using Maya.
  • Extensive experience using Unreal 4/5.
  • Extensive experience with 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance.
  • Solid understanding of Shaders and materials.
  • A minimum of 2 years of lighting experience on a AAA project.
  • Knowledge in a variety of baked and real-time lighting methods.
  • Strong Environment or Tech art background.
  • Creative and self-motivated.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • An artistic education to at least graduate level.
  • Strong folio including examples of realistic modeling and environment.
