We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Early Years Practitioner to join our team, working in a 3-5 year old room with opportunities to work with younger children in our 2 year old provision and the Green Room specialist provision.


About the Role


This is a 52-week non-sessional post, requiring the ability to work during school holidays. You will be responsible for delivering a child-centered service, meeting the needs of children and their families as part of an effective early years team.


Key Responsibilities


To work effectively as a member of the early years team, you will need to:



  • Deliver high-quality learning experiences indoors and outdoors, promoting children's development and well-being
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and implement engaging activities and programs
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress and development
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure smooth transitions and partnerships

Requirements and Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you should have a good knowledge of early years education and a commitment to providing high-quality care and learning experiences for young children. You will also require strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this role is £17,040 - £18,450 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours). As an employee of East Lothian Council, you will benefit from a range of excellent benefits, including access to training and development opportunities, a generous holiday entitlement, and a pension scheme.
