We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buying Director to join our team at Joma Jewellery Ltd. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, driving the buying strategy for two renowned brands.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for defining the supplier sourcing strategy, executing it in collaboration with senior stakeholders, and overseeing the management of supplier development against key performance indicators (KPIs) and business objectives.
You will formulate and set the buying plan and budget for all categories across both brands, ensuring complete accountability for delivering the product development buy plan. Additionally, you will take responsibility for design compliance and quality, managing the buying team to execute this, including approving or rejecting samples.
Your leadership skills will be essential in coaching, leading, and developing a high-performing Buying team from a strategic and hands-on perspective, ensuring goals and deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute the supplier sourcing strategy in collaboration with the CEO, Creative Director, and Head of Channel.
- Oversee the management of supplier development against KPIs and business objectives with complete accountability.
- Formulate and set the buying plan and budget for all categories across both brands.
- Take responsibility for design compliance and quality, managing the buying team to execute this.
- Coach, lead, and develop a high-performing Buying team from a strategic and hands-on perspective.
- Previous experience as a Buying Manager or Senior Buying Manager within a similar industry, with excellent team management and mentoring experience.
- A self-starter who competently manages risk and applies strong commercial acumen.
- Highly analytical, with expertise in Excel and Power BI.
- Working knowledge of laws and regulations relating to procurement, contracts, and product.
- A strategic thinker who drives overall company goals through developing clear buying strategies in combination with senior stakeholders up to founder level.
- Previous experience in developing, defining, and driving buying KPIs.
- Strong understanding of QC.
- A competitive salary (£55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience).
- 25 days holiday rising to 27 with length of service, plus bank holidays.
