Project Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at CMS2 in Portsmouth. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading engineering activities for In Service Support Projects / Spares, working directly with the ISS Delivery Manager, and supporting the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers to ensure the product is delivered to specification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage design improvement/obsolescence activities relating to assigned projects, providing technical guidance in line with the Product Specification to engineering resources assigned.
  • Define the content of standard project documentation (technical, operation, maintenance manual etc.)
  • Report on the technical content of the project to the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers.
  • Identify technical risks to the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers and work on appropriate strategies for risk management.
  • Provide technical support for the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers in customer communications during project delivery.
  • Track activities to project plans and budgets, regularly reporting to the ISS Delivery Manager, ISS Technical Manager, and ISS Project Managers on progress as required.
  • Raise purchase requisitions for all project materials.
  • Provide technical support for procurement, production, and quality throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely response to action items.
  • Liaison with Production team, lead issue resolution, report progress to ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers during build/manufacturing phases.
  • Provide support to SQE and Quality team as required to resolve quality issues, including raising formal requests, fault finding, and test support.
  • Support engineering design as required by the project.
  • Lead testing and commissioning of equipment working with the Test Technicians and Commissioning Engineers as required by the project.
  • Ensure project activities are delivered as defined by the project manager, including ensuring design reviews are held, FMEAs are conducted, and appropriate test plans are in place.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Requirements:
  • HND or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or related subject.
  • Experience of working in a Mechanical/Systems engineering environment.
  • Experience of working on multiple projects.
  • Practical competence in mechanical/systems assembly.

Role travel requirements:

  • The duties of this appointment relate to the UK, but you may be required to travel when required by the Company.
