Kitchen Assistant Job Description

To provide high-quality kitchen support through the completion of cleaning tasks, organisation of stock, and general maintenance of kitchen hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all cutlery, crockery, and kitchen utensils are washed and clean.
  • Assist the Chef in maintaining a clean and sanitised kitchen environment.
  • Organise and maintain stock levels, ensuring timely rotation and disposal of out-of-date items.
  • Sweep and mop floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist the team in receiving goods, documenting product temperatures, and ensuring accurate inventory management.
  • Complete cleaning schedules, procedures, and forms as required.
  • Ensure the pot wash is cleaned regularly and maintained in good condition.
  • Take out the garbage and recycling from the kitchen.
  • Ensure all sinks and blue roll dispensers are fully stocked.
  • Follow the cleaning rota and ensure all tasks are completed.
Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times within the kitchen.
  • Uniforms, shoes, and hats will be provided by Schoen Clinic Newbridge.
  • Uniforms and aprons should be clean at the beginning of each shift and changed regularly when necessary.
  • Uniforms or aprons should not be worn outside Schoen Clinic Newbridge.
Professional Conduct:
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act, The Children Act, Child Protection Legislation, and Schoen Clinic Newbridge Policy.
  • Operate within your level of professional competency.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with colleagues and patients at all times.
  • Ensure effective communication systems are in place.
Education and Training:
  • Participate in Schoen Clinic Newbridge's appraisal process, identifying mandatory and professional training needs.
  • Attend all mandatory and associated professional training.
  • Be responsible for your own professional development and maintain a Continued Personal Development log.
  • Training can be provided on request for the use of IT equipment/programmes.
Organisational and Communication Skills:
  • Familiarise yourself with and follow Health and Safety policy and procedures, and be aware of individual responsibilities under legislation.
  • Be responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with all relevant Schoen Clinic Newbridge and statutory policies and procedures.
  • Manage your workload and time effectively using the procedures provided.
  • Communicate with patients in line with Schoen Clinic Newbridge guidelines on confidentiality.
  • Limit information provided to patients in relation to the meal plan, avoiding discussion of ingredients, portion sizes, dietary dislikes, diet changes, or cooking methods.
