Peterborough, Peterborough, United Kingdom ARU Full time

About ARU:

ARU is a global university that transforms lives through innovative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial education and research. We hold a Gold award for the quality of our education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

Our research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical, and creative fields. We deliver impactful research that tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK's Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading.

We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health, and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK's leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About the role:

We are seeking a Lecturer (full or fractional) with expertise in Civil Engineering and particularly structural engineering or hydraulics to lead our new course and contribute to the teaching of the Construction portfolio, which also includes Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. You will need a Degree plus a PhD or Professional Doctorate or near completion.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience using innovative, industry-relevant, and engaging teaching techniques that focus on non-technical skills development as much as technical.

We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can fulfil their potential and thrive. We welcome and encourage applications from all parts of the community, particularly those who are not traditionally associated with engineering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive forward strategies to attract and retain a diverse range of people to our courses.
  • Build curricula that develop graduates with the skills and behaviours required by an engineer in the 21st century.
  • Contribute to the teaching of the Construction portfolio, including Construction Management and Quantity Surveying.

What we offer:

We have an agile working culture and offer an extensive range of benefits, including generous holiday entitlement, occupational pension schemes, training and development opportunities, travel to work scheme, and a competitive relocation package. Visit our page for full details.

We have a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy once we have received sufficient applications.
