Job Summary

Central London Community Health Trust is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in Hertfordshire Adult Community Services. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will work on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Wards at Potters Bar Community Hospital, providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and discharge planning to patients with a variety of conditions.

Main Responsibilities

Key duties of the role include:

  • Assessing the functional needs of patients and providing intervention plans based on protocols and pathways
  • Completing OT-specific assessments and managing a delegated caseload
  • Carrying out and recording comprehensive assessments, prescribing and monitoring equipment, adaptations, and assistive technology to improve or maintain independence
  • Managing clients across their care pathway from hospital to home by referring to and liaising with appropriate services
  • Participating in clinical audit, maintaining concise and accurate reports, and participating in seven-day working
  • Maintaining communication links with other disciplines and agencies, communicating effectively with patients and carers
  • Professionally supporting and supervising junior members, deputising for the therapy team leader in their absence, and taking the lead on the OT caseload
  • Maintaining professional standards of practice at all times and maintaining confidentiality of any information received as part of your duties
  • Attending and contributing to in-service training lectures and external courses relevant to the clinical areas, undertaking the supervision of OT students on placement, and participating in regular supervision with the Clinical Specialist OT
