Medical Laboratory Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic team in the Pre-Analytical area of Pathology.
The successful candidate will work in a 24/7 service, covering a variety of duties including data entry, sample sorting and labelling, dealing with the public, and dealing with telephone enquiries from doctors, nurses and patients.
Full training will be provided for these and other duties that may be included, although previous experience would be beneficial.

Main Duties
The Pre-Analytical dept prepares samples for the Haematology and Biochemistry departments.
There is a large open lab with a large team consisting of Biomedical Scientists working alongside support staff.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting and registering pathology samples, preparing clinical specimens for biological testing, and performing such functions as are necessary to ensure the efficient running of the Department.
Work will also include data input into departmental computer systems, report filing and response to telephone enquiries.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
