A Financial Controller opportunity exists for a forward-thinking SME, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You'll be responsible for managing all aspects of finance, including team management.

To be considered for the role, you'll require:

  1. Proven experience in financial management, accounting, and reporting
  2. Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management skills
  3. Proficiency in maintaining accurate and timely financial records
  4. Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and accounts
  5. Experience overseeing and mentoring other staff members
  6. Familiarity with credit control and ability to provide coverage for related duties
  7. Collaborative work with directors on financial planning
  8. Understanding of payroll, PAYE, pensions, VAT record maintenance, and banking requirements

This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference daily and participate in various projects alongside business as usual activities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintaining and regulating accounting records, controls, and reports
  2. Preparing annual budgets, forecasts, financial statements, and audit-ready annual accounts
  3. Supervising a small team of staff members
  4. Overseeing credit control and providing backup support
  5. Ensuring up-to-date accounting records are compiled each month
  6. Collaborating with decision-makers on company tasks and projects
  7. Monitoring bank balances, cash flow forecasting, currency positions, and loans
  8. Managing payroll, PAYE, pension contributions, and benefits
  9. Maintaining VAT records and ensuring timely payments
  10. Serving as the primary contact for external audit, banking, HR, health and safety, and insurance matters
  11. Performing company secretarial duties and ensuring regulatory compliance
