Job Overview:


First Military Recruitment is excited to collaborate with a reputable organization seeking to hire a Lead Rail Installation Specialist on a permanent basis due to expansion in Belfast. The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK but will be required to travel to Belfast periodically.

This role involves leading and managing the workforce, including agency and subcontractors, on-site to ensure that safety, productivity, and workmanship adhere to required standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee a team, ensuring that productivity and workmanship standards are met by all team members, including agency and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with current quality and group standards for all work performed.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of installation tasks to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist in planning on-site operations and future projects.
  • Complete all relevant site documentation accurately and maintain an organized record-keeping system.
  • Perform safety duties and briefings as required, including ES, COSS, and PC responsibilities.
  • Utilize power tools and portable equipment where certified.
  • Identify potential hazards that may affect project delivery and implement preventive measures.
  • Participate in competence assessments and mentoring as needed.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working condition.
  • Act as site supervisor when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to meet workmanship and productivity standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of signalling equipment and railway regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in S&T work.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Desirable signalling modules: SMTH, Mod 3C, Mod 5.
  • Willingness to drive or learn.
  • PTS certification.
  • COSS and PC qualifications are advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational and mechanical skills.
  • Solid electrical knowledge.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • IRSE Licensed or working towards it.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team while working collaboratively.
  • Decisive with a strong initiative.
