Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in a dynamic secondary school setting. As an EAL Language Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome language barriers and thrive academically.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to students with EAL needs, helping them improve their English language skills through tailored interventions and resources.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to deliver effective learning plans that meet the individual needs of EAL students.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of resources that cater to the diverse needs of EAL students.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence and academic progress among students.
  • Monitor and track the progress of EAL students, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students who have EAL needs, particularly within a secondary school environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students' language development and academic success.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support language acquisition and integration in the classroom.
