About the Role:

You will focus on delivering projects related to forensic investigations and condition assessments of power systems plant, with a strong emphasis on LV, MV, and HV cable systems. Your hands-on approach and ability to work alongside technical engineers will be essential in achieving project goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Condition assessment of paper and polymeric cable systems
  2. Failure investigations: condition assessments of cable joints, termination, and sealing ends comprising a wide array of paper/polymeric cable systems and configurations

You'll also assist in the day-to-day running of projects and materials labs, working closely with the Forensic Investigations and Analytical teams to ensure quality delivery for our customers.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Working towards or have achieved professional registration status in relevant institution
  • Ideally have worked for a cable OEM, an electrical utility organisation, a consultancy, or a power plant service provider
  • To have a comprehensive technical understanding of power systems plant and their operation
  • An understanding of the electrical field distributions in power plant and methods used to control electrical field distributions
  • An understanding of how to separate observations following failure from the root cause
