Senior Computational Biologist for Drug Discovery

We are seeking an experienced Senior Computational Biologist to join our Product & Tech division at BenevolentAI. As a key member of our team, you will apply cutting-edge approaches to multimodal data integration for drug discovery applications.

About the Role
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Informatics to define and implement processes that adhere to industry best practices, ensuring seamless data transformations across various sources.
  • Work alongside software engineers to productionise informatics logic and algorithms, powering user-facing tools that drive BAI drug discovery programmes forward.
  • Develop and apply quality control checks to maintain scientific and technical data integrity, guaranteeing high-quality outcomes.
Your Background
  • A PhD in bioinformatics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, with the ability to adapt to Python within a few months.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline systems, database query languages, and/or Apache Spark.
  • Experience working with diverse biomedical data types, including Gene Ontology, Reactome, Chembl, text mining/NLP, and analysis of primary datasets like genomics/genetics, protein structure, chemistry, or clinical data.
  • A proven track record of developing computational methods to derive novel insights from data, supporting various aspects of the drug discovery process.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to share knowledge and ideas between scientific and engineering disciplines.
What We Offer
