Senior Systems Engineer for Intelligent Motor Drivers

Job Description

Allegro MicroSystems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our Intelligent Motor Drivers team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining and developing new products that meet the needs of our customers in the automotive, industrial, and datacenter infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate the value proposition of our products to internal and external customers.
  • Work with strategic marketing, field application engineers, and customers to specify new and differentiated products.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure products are built to specification.
  • Build validation plans and execute them across multiple teams.
  • Join forces with strategic marketing for product promotions and collateral generation.
  • Collaborate with and train field application engineers to support customer designs.
  • Build up customer support ecosystems to facilitate design-in.

Requirements:

  • BSEE (MSEE preferred) or more with a deep understanding of motor control, such as sensorless FOC for PMSM, IPMSM, or BLDC.
  • Real-time basis coding skills for motor control using C, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Motor control simulation skills with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Core electronics fundamentals and deep understanding of power conversion.
  • Motor control evaluation skills in a lab setting.
  • Customer-facing experience in a technical role is necessary.
  • Strong lab and circuit debugging skills; experience in defining demo systems a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Requires strong verbal and presentation skills, both in person and remotely.
