Estimator Opportunity

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a Leeds-based construction company specialising in commercial refurbishment projects as well as commercial and residential new builds.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of commercial refurbishment and new build projects in both residential and commercial sectors, as well as excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and building regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for projects.
  • Analyse and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to produce accurate estimates.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Director, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring best value for money.
  • Conduct detailed take-offs and bill of quantities to ensure all aspects of the project are accounted for.
  • Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities within the tender process.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project handover post-tender.
  • Maintain accurate records of all estimates, tenders, and supporting documentation for auditing and review purposes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally with exposure to projects valued at £6,000,000 or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial refurbishment and new build projects in both residential and commercial sectors.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and building regulations.
  • Proficient in using estimating software and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and team members effectively.
  • A degree or HND/HNC in construction, quantity surveying, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
