Railway Construction Estimator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Railway Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our pre-construction phase, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimations for railway construction projects.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop detailed cost estimates for railway construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.


  • Prepare and submit tenders and proposals for railway construction projects.


  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns and pricing schedules.


  • Identify potential project risks, delays, and challenges, providing mitigation strategies in cost projections.


  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and quotes for materials and services.


  • Work with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards.


  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements, answer queries, and provide updates on project costs.


  • Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and emerging technologies within the railway construction sector.


  • Support project teams during the construction phase by monitoring budgets, forecasting costs, and updating estimates as needed.




Requirements:


  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as an Estimator, preferably within the railway or civil engineering sectors.


  • Familiarity with Network Rail standards, rail infrastructure, and construction processes.


  • Proficient in estimating software (such as Candy, CostX, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and how they relate to cost control and estimation.


  • Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or construction management are desirable.


  • Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
