About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our team at Less Common Metals Limited. As a key member of our analytical team, you will play a vital role in supporting our manufacturing and product development efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operations of the laboratory, providing comprehensive analytical services to both internal and external clients.
  • Manage and operate advanced laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain and update the Laboratory Management System, ensuring all documentation adheres to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical methods, introducing new techniques to support the development of innovative products.
  • Develop and adapt sample analysis records to ensure quality and traceability throughout the process.
  • Work closely with production and R&D teams to assess analytical priorities, ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of laboratory facilities.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels of reagents and consumables, overseeing the storage and safe disposal of hazardous substances in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure all analytical areas are well-organized, clean, and properly maintained to foster a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety Policy, including the appropriate use of protective equipment and clothing when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company's Quality Policy and participate in both internal and external audits as required.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to uphold the highest standards in laboratory practices.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working as an analytical chemist within a manufacturing or pilot plant environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and support junior colleagues.
  • Experience in the use of laboratory equipment, including Elemental Analysis (ICP-OES / LECO), Metallography (Optical, SEM-EDX), Crystallography (XRD), and Physical Testing (PSD, thickness).
