Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Emergency Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Watford General Hospital. As an Emergency Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Urgent Treatment Centre. Your primary focus will be on assessing health and clinical needs, using your minor injuries clinical skills to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients. This role requires face-to-face consultations, working with a variable rota that covers weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient history taking and physical examinations.
  • Determine appropriate treatment, referring to primary or secondary care specialist services as needed.
  • Prescribe medications or work from Protocol Generated Documents (PGDs) to support minor injury patients.
  • Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • You must be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a First-Level qualification.
  • Evidence of degree-level study or equivalent is required.
  • You should have completed studies in minor injuries and x-ray interpretation.
  • Able to work independently as an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber or use PGDs.
  • Paediatric minor injuries experience is desired but willingness to develop these skills is essential.
